Arsenal youngster Alexandre Song has put pen-to-paper on a long-term contract with the club.

The Cameroon international joined the Gunners on a season-long loan from Bastia in 2005 before signing permanently the following summer.

He has found it difficult to establish himself as a regular starter in Arsene Wenger's side, but made 15 appearances last season

The 20-year-old returned from the African Cup of Nations to feature heavily towards the end of the Premier League campaign.

He can play in midfield or defence and filled in at centre-back for the last five matches of the 2007/8 campaign.

Song will now be looking to make even more of an impact next term after being rewarded with a new deal.

He hasn't had the best few seasons at Arsenal but the African Cup of Nations really changed him as a player, he has improved a lot since playing there and deserved to get a few first team games under his belt for the first team. Pretty small player but very good in the air!

Where is his main position. I always thought he was naturally a Defensive Mid. but didn't he play at Centre Back for Arsenal a while ago.

Well it's actually centre midfield, but then started playing in defense for our reserves and just seemed to fill in there so well. Put in good performance for the first team aswel so really could see him as a defender and back up midfield player thumbs up

When he was at Charlton, he was a beast in the middle of the park, almost kept them up.

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel beat Ferrari's Fernando Alonso to set the pace on the first day of the pre-season test at Spain's Circuit de Catalunya.

The world champion spent much of the day in the garage but he clocked a lap of one minute, 24.374 seconds in a late run to beat Alonso by 1.111 seconds.
