Summer Transfers - IN
Post news or articles about players that are rumoured to join Benfica during the summer transfer window.
Basically the article says we are interested in a Defensive Midfielder called, Hassan Yebda currently playing for Le Mans in the French League. He is supposedly going to sign a four year contract contract with Benfica on a free transfer from the French club to Benfica.

lmao i know eh
yeah i also never heard of this guy. But i guess another midfielder to be added to our squad isnt that bad of an idea. Katsouronis is leaving, Binya is being loaned out. Just hoping that is guy is atleast alrite. Free transfers tho make me nervous.
And i really hope we bring Jorge Ribeiro to the Luz!
Since January there's been articles that we officially signed him and s**t, then Rui Costa says acouple of weeks ago clarifying that we've ONLY been interested in him, that we havent signed him at all.
Im still a little furious about that! ffs!

Re: Summer Transfers - IN
Looks like he is going to go to WIgan, becuase we didn't wanna confirm the signing, as we don't have a manager, so we wouldn't know if he would be in his plans or not.
Re: Summer Transfers - IN
I think thats a good idea frankly we dont even know much abotu this guy why take on another player when more then likely he wont be used with this new manager
Re: Summer Transfers - IN
Alrite! On Flores first days incharge he brought in a young striker! i just did some research on the kid so hear u are:
Number: #10
Position: Forward
Age: 21 years old
Nationality: French
Yoan Gouffran (born May 25, 1986 in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges) is a French footballer of Guadeloupean descent[1], currently playing for SM Caen. His position is striker. He has bags of pace and is an excellent finisher with both feet.
Gouffran took part in the 2006 U-21 Championships in Portugal, where he made four appearances and scored one goal.
On May 20, 2007, Gouffran was awarded French Ligue 2 Player of the Season after a successful season with SM Caen which saw the club promoted to the Ligue 1.[2] The 21-year-old was named Ligue 2 Player of the Year as he helped Caen seal promotion to the top flight of French football.

we now own a young, promising, french striker. From what i read there was a good few other clubs after him lately this year..Arsenal was one of them.
Anyways so thats another striker ...i think we should get rid of atleast one striker here, in my opinion it Benfica should get rid of Makukula
ALSO, Dejesus mentioned this:

Carlos Martins and Caneira might be next
To be honest i wouldnt mind signin them at all..especially Caneira.
Sportinguistas might get a lil mad at them 2 if they were to join us..but thats alright, they have to accept the fact they want to play at a big club
*cough*Duzza*cough*Bel*cough*
Yoan Gouffran

Re: Summer Transfers - IN
ALSO, on ojogo.pt ..it says we signed someone else today..
--------------------------------------------------------------
This is the player that Dejesus posted info about at the top of this page when we were just interested in him.
i dont understand some of this article tho. It says that Flores has confirmed that Yebda is part of the team now..but Rui Costa didnt say anythin about a contract with him or somethin ...does this mean we got Yebda on loan or somethin?
i dont really understand

By the way I don't think we have actually signed him yet, although if he is in Portugal he must be here to sign the contract...*fingers crossed*
I would like Martins alot, he offers a lot, a good shot, good passing, strength, work rate, just an out and out midfield that we are in need of. When Portugal played Greece Martins was the best portugal player up until he got changed and put onto the left hand side, which was complete bullshit. Caneira is an alrite player and would be useful simply because he can play both left and right back. I'm guessing he would be brought in for LB.
Yebda should be coming in soon too. So that leaves Quique with 2 Winger's wanted...unless he wants to play Gouffran on the wing...I have a feeling the media are gnna be having a ball of a time making the biggest bullshit up for the next few weeks. We will end up being linked with Riquelme...Fernandes...Simao...

Re: Summer Transfers - IN
Totally us getting a young French player is great also I dont think we need Caneira we need another CB but we have Sespi and Ribeiro for the left side if anything Caneira would be useful for RB if Nelson leaves. Also Martins would be good I always liked that guy never understood why he left Sporting he was quality imo I guess he just fell out of terms with Bento but anyway these would be a good start for signings but we definitely need to clean out some players and bring in a few more high quality players. We need a TRUE RW!
Truthfully the only way I see this workign is Coentrao and Di maria play the same spot and there both quality and Coentrao is really stepping up showing what he is made of so the LW position is covered the other problem is we have Ribeiro too so he is versatile and I doubt he will play LB if Leo and Sespi are there so where the hell is Ribeiro going to play RW?

Ye, he might be on his way out on a loan deal.
We haven't signed Ribeiro yet and tbh I don't think we will anymore.

Oh I thought Ribiero was a done deal ... dam i was looking forward to that guy ... maybe we can sign that dude who was named the next Simao that sounds pretty promising

Re: Summer Transfers - IN
We need to bring in Gouffran, he would be a class signing, and a step in the right direction.
Yebda i don't think is an actual defensive midfielder. Judging by the goals ive seen him score he seems to be more of a box to box midfielder, as he does get forward.
Albelda would also be a class act signing. He is 30 and we would get a good 2-3 years out of him yet. Shame he is probably to expensive for our tight asses.
Carlos Martins would be a good option also, he'd be a great squad player, that can come in and do a class job.
Carniera i don't really rate and i think wouldn't be the best of options. Let him go back to Sporting.

Re: Summer Transfers - IN

-----------------------------------------------------------
Reading this article, we want Albelda but he cost alot. Maybe they'll work somethin around it?

Id be quite happy if we sign him ffs! he's a tad old but he's hold alot of experience and leadership under his belt, and most of all he's still quality!

Re: Summer Transfers - IN
more news of Albelda!
Quiquie Flores is keen to make David Albelda one of his first signing at Benfica after being introduced to the media alongside sporting director Rui Costa.
The former Valencia trainer wants to return to his former club and rescue the 30-year-old from a difficult situation and could land the midfielder for free.
Benfica are looking to rebuild after failing to qualify for the Champions League and have given Sánchez Flores scope to bring in several new players.
Sánchez Flores will have to be quick if he wants to make an approach for Albelda because several clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, first made contact in January when the player was outcast from los Chè's squad.
Juande Ramos sees him as a perfect foil for Luka Modric's attacking flair and is believed to have already spoken to the player and his agent.
At his presentation, Sánchez Flores vowed to revitalise Benfica and lift them back to the top, where he believes a club of that stature clearly belongs.
"I promise to work hard," he explained. "This is an important step in my career because we are talking about a club with a huge history, built not only on titles, but also on its the vast support.
"We want to start winning again to lift the club back up to where it should be."
-----------------------------------------------
i dont know what every1's take on him is but id absolutely love him at Benfica!
Looks like itd be a free transfer..but still im sure he's got a big price tag on him..maybe they could work somethin out

Goal.com wrote:Benfica Target Carlos Martins
Portuguese sports daily Record understands that Benfica are weighing up a move for Recreativo de Huelva's Carlos Martins.
Quique Flores was appointed as manager of Benfica just yesterday but he is already starting to plan the squad he wishes to guide next season.
Martins enjoyed an impressive first season in Spain after arriving from Sporting during the last summer transfer window, having been pivotal in the club's struggle to avoid relegation.
The 26-year-old has a €15 million buyout clause attached to his contract, but it is believed a smaller fee may be enough to lure the Portuguese into a return to his homeland, after Recreativo coach, Manolo Zambrano, stated that it will be almost impossible to keep the player.
"I have an idea about my squad for the next season," Zambrano said. "Logically, I count with Carlos Martins. He has demonstrated that, when he is on a good level, the team play better."
"Carlos Martins is an important player, but we are aware that we are a modest club and, at the same time, an open door to bigger clubs."
Martins arrived at Recreativo de Huelva from Sporting for an undisclosed fee and it is believed that the Portuguese club still hold 30% of his playing rights.
That would be so weird if we were to sign him.

Re: Summer Transfers - IN
Apparently Carlos Martins is worth up to 15m euros to Recreativo. My dad said that he heard that on RTP. If that's true then they rate the player way too highly.
Re: Summer Transfers - IN
Man I don't want to get my hopes up cause this always happens every year but man if we sign this Valencia player and Carlos Martins we are definitely heading in the right direction with Youth and Prime Players the Valencia guy is only 30 that isnt bad at all we need guys with experience.
Re: Summer Transfers - IN
today, Yebda penned a 4 season contract with Benfica. So hopefully he's good.
From wat Flores is sayin about him, i guess this guy is a great addition to our squad.

"O Benfica é o clube do meu coração.
