Benfica try Soldado

Benfica has been busy looking at potential transfers and striker Roberto Soldado has been one of talked ones. The Real Madrid forward was a Benfica target last season but a hefty price tag and lack of interest from the player shook off any possibility.

Although new manager Quique Flores worked with Soldado at Real Madrid Castilla (youth rank) and the Spaniard could be up for a reunion.

"I would like to work with Quique Flores, he's a manager that knows me well and knows exactly what I can give to the team."

Rui Costa has been given the green light for negotiations and a €7m package may be needed to prize him away from Real, with a reported €2m/€3m per annum salary.

thats it?! i thought his price was goin to be double that. Lets pick him up!!
If we purchase this guy im definitly gettin his name on the back of my next Benfica jersey Very Happy

I have a great feeling in me that if we sign Soldado, he's most definitly goin to bring us glory! Especially if him and Flores worked together in the past and "Flores knows me well and what I can bring to the team"

He would be a great signing. I heard on Ojogo that Rui Costa and LFV have gone out of Portugal today so.....who knows.... Smile

Record are normally quite accurate when they say something is close to being accepted. These 2 player's are very good and both are quite young. On Abola it says we have offered for this Damian Escudero (An attacking mid that plays for Velez in Argentina. He's 21 years old aswell). So hopefully he would be our primary attacking mid, because as much as I like Martins I just don't think he cut's it to be our #10, although i wouldn't mind him in a more centre midfield role, possibly like the Portugal tactic we use.

I wan't to see how this new's progress's though. Normally it's like, we are linked with a player one day then linked with 58 other players the next day ninja

to be honest with you guys, i kinda have my hopes up hoping we do sign Martins. I think he would make an absolute great addition, he's Portuguese(possibly a future Portuguese international) so him comin to us/to Portugal would be more possibe, and he already stated the he wanted to leave Huelva and that goin back to Lisboa for Benfica would be a great and smart move.

I would like Martins to join us, but to become our #10 then it's a bit worrying. He's not the sort of #10 we need, although he would be quality to play in a more box to box role (Katsouranis sort of role).

^^^ Tbh i really do not want him to join us now. He's gnna end up being a Luis Felipe, just like all the other player's we ahve signed from Portuguese sides....Makukula, Manduca, Paulo Jorge, etc. Sad

PONGOLLE E CARLOS MARTINS APRESENTADOS HOJE OU AMANHÃ

Fechado! Sinama-Pongolle e Carlos Martins já são quase reforços do Benfica, devendo ser apresentados ainda hoje ou amanhã. Os dois jogadores do Recreativo rumam à Luz a troco de 10 milhões de euros, sendo que 40 por cento do valor da transferência do internacional português é canalizada para o Sporting.

Quique Flores vê assim satisfeito o pedido efectuado durante as reuniões com Rui Costa. Ao elaborar a lista de potenciais reforços, o treinador espanhol colocou o nome de Sinama-Pongolle no topo das prioridades, surgindo numa posição de menor destaque o nome de Fabrizio Miccoli.

O novo director desportivo do Benfica não quis defraudar as expectativas do técnico e pôs imediatamente mãos à obra, conseguindo resgatar o internacional francês ao Huelva, emblema que o blindara com uma cláusula de 10 milhões.

Im pretty darn happy we signed Carlos Martins!!
And im not 100% sure who Pongolle is but if im not mistaken, out of the good few times i've watched a Recreativo game last season, im pretty sure i seen Pongolle play acouple times..and if its him who i seen, he aint bad at all!
He's an attacking midfielder i believe?

I still don't think Martins is the #10.

Pongolle is a striker, or even support striker. Would do a good job with Cardozo i think.

Even though it has been unofficially anounced on Record I'm gnna bide my time and wait till Benfica announce it, or when they are both in a Benfica top.
