Re: Portugal Announce Euro 2008 Roster.
im still really disappointed Maniche wasnt called up
He was a player that could make an unexpect dangerous shot on goal at anytime no matter how far out.
Im hope his brother Jorge Ribeiro could somewhat fill the roll in. I've noticed from watchin acouple of his games that he ha that same sorta dangerous shot on goal that Maniche has

Re: Portugal Announce Euro 2008 Roster.
Your one is Latino. It's been going around that Ronaldo has become the new holder of the number 7 and Moutinho with the 10. What i did like was Almeida getting the no.9....Is that a sign that he could be our main man...

im not to sure man, its been sayin on acouple of sites that i visited tonight(Ojogo, Record) that Scolari dubbed Nuno Gomes as one of the captains of the Seleccao so i dont know how much games he's goin to be benched.
But then again i think Ronaldo is goin to be our main captain.
i dunno, i guess time will tell. All im hoping for is that Scolari doesnt make any rediculous decision, and that Ricardo doesnt make any frangos

There was a time that i really liked Ricardo, but now im just straightup nervous.lol

Re: Portugal Announce Euro 2008 Roster.
He will be our captain.
But it's funny how Quaresma got Ronaldo's old number and Ronaldo got the number I expected Quaresma to take, for style alone. This will be weird, seeing Quaresma in Ronaldo's #..

Re: Portugal Announce Euro 2008 Roster.
So I thought Quaresma was the one to take the #7 but it makes sense to give it to Ronaldo I think #10 should of went to Quaresma imo though #10 should be more for a ACM/CM player like Mouintho/Deco but anyway its all good there just numbers!
So what does everyone hope the line up will look like I am just taking a stab at this feel free to correct me in your opinions but with the players we brought up I think this line would work.
-----------------------Quim
Bosingwa------Carvalho-----Pepe-------Rebeiro
------------------------Veloso
Ronaldo-----------Deco-----------------Quaresma
---------------------------Simao
--------------------Almeida
Simao Quaresma and Ronaldo to kind of keep swtiching it up and some how find a stratedgy that fits them!

I like the look of that lineup PCP!
Wouldn't change nada from that.

Re: Portugal Announce Euro 2008 Roster.
as much as i hate the fact uve beaten us in couple majors
ur team certainly has the potential to win the euros. Perhaps have the best defender in the world in carvalho, pepe's on fire of late, bosingwa is a unreal talent and i like miguel (always have). As for your mids, deco is self explanatory, quaresma is a box of tricks and ronaldo is atm the best player in the world. Simao seems a bit hit or miss to me and almeida all be it a decent player, isn't a fernando torres or a klose. One top striker like pauleta reallly would have helped make your side amazing. Its a shame you didnt have this starting line up 5 years ago when pauleta was in his prime

Re: Portugal Announce Euro 2008 Roster.
i stole this from another forum because i thought it was really interestin and i wanna discuss it with you guys:
So it looks like we will be playing the 4-3-3 with this starting 11:
I would like to say acouple of things about this startin 11 he chose.lol
First, no offence to Quaresma fans and Quaresma..i have nothin against him and i even own a portugal jersey to prove that i like his style....but when i say 'i like his style', i really mean that i like his style WHEN he preforms. There is times when it seems like all he wants to do is fancy moves in basica situations, and also his last games at Porto he didnt preform well at all.half the time u didnt know he was on the field and thats pretty sad
considerin he is one hell of a player when he's in the mood.
So id like to say that its nice that Scolari seen that! Simao has been deadly for Atletico, he had an excellent first season there! Im pretty happy that we're starting Simao. either way theres been quite a few games where Quaresma came off the bench and played amazing, so right now he can be a bench player i guess.
Nani is also deadly. He can do both setting-up and scoring very well, he's energetic, and he doesnt let frusteration get to his game as much as Ronaldo and Quaresma do(especially Quaresma).
Second, i was almost positive a month ago that Scolari wasnt goin to start Ricardo..i read an article that Scolari gave Ricardo a few long talks about his situation at Betis (him and the manager had a big fallout there and ended up losing his startin role as gk for a good few months at Betis)..and Scolari kept question Ricardo if he can mentally be our #1 gk because Portugal can go all the way ONLY if we have a gk. I just hope to God Ricardo doesnt make any frangos(bad mistakes) durin the competition...i dont want us losing against a team like Switzerland 1-0 because Ricardo let the ball roll past him at 0.00000001km/h.
I like our midfield:
---------Petit-------Deco-----Moutinho--------
Although I wish it was:
---------Veloso-------Deco-----Moutinho--------
But i guess having Petit in the midfielder would add experience....i guess
And as for Nuno Gomes..i dont really have any comment on that. Last month i had a dream that Nuno Gomes came out huuuge for us in acouple of games in Euro08..just like he used to come out huge for us in a good few games back when he had an edge to him. But either way thats just my opinion about that..im sure alot of people dont want him there
Either way, naturally I prefer Almeida. Nuno Gomes seems to be alot better off the bench anyway.
Portugoal.net, May 28
Luiz Felipe Scolari gave the thousands of watching fans and dozens of journalists a big clue into his thinking for Portugal’s starting eleven in a productive training session in Viseu yesterday.
The Brazilian seems certain to stick to his preferred 4-3-3 formation, with Nuno Gomes currently the number one choice to play as the lone centre forward.
Other selections in Scolari’s training ground first eleven that may raise eyebrows were Simao Sabrosa (preferred to Ricardo Quaresma) and the pairing of Joao Moutinho and Petit as the defensive midfielders, leaving no place for Miguel Veloso.
Paulo Ferreira appears favourite to fill the problem left-back role. The prospective first team picked by Scolari was as follows:
Ricardo, Bosingwa, Pepe, Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira, Petit, Joao Moutinho, Deco, Cristiano Ronaldo, Simao, Nuno Gomes
Scolari’s alterations in the second half of the training match gave indications of perhaps the Brazilian’s biggest doubts. Bruno Alves came in for Pepe to partner Ricardo Carvalho at the centre of defence, Miguel replaced Bosingwa, and Miguel Veloso substituted club colleague Joao Moutinho alongside Petit.
The excellent form shown by Nani throughout, playing for the second eleven, would also have given Scolari food for thought.
Portugal will be looking to fine-tune their system in a friendly match against Georgia on Saturday before playing their first match at Euro 2008 against Turkey one week later. "
So it looks like we will be playing the 4-3-3 with this starting 11:
-------------------Ricardo--------------------
Bosingwa------Pepe---Carvalho----Paulo Ferreira
---------Petit-------Deco-----Moutinho--------
Simao-----------Nuno Gomes----------Ronaldo

---------Petit-------Deco-----Moutinho--------

Re: Portugal Announce Euro 2008 Roster.
I agree on what you said about Quaresma, he can be the most important player at times and at other times you just want him to f**k off.
As for Petit he shouldn't be playing for Benfica let alone Portugal, but hey!
And finally Nuno Gomes. What does Scolari see in him, infact, what did all the other Benfica manager's see in him. The guy doesn't have nothing. He his a bag s**t shit!

i guess Scolari is having a lil hard time on who to play in the midfield because every1 is playing so well
so..its all over the papers these past couple of days that Scolari is goin to have a good eye on Moutinho during today's game, Portugal vs Georgia.
